(SharedPreferences·UserDefaults) |
안드로이드 앱에는 MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE·READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE·WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE·READ_MEDIA_IMAGES가 없다.
14. 연락처
KoNote Privacy Policy
In one sentence — KoNote does not collect anything about you. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Your notebooks stay on your device, and the developer cannot see them.
1. Who we are
- Developer — K-ICT
- Address — Bldg. 1203, Unit 306, 92 Sindosinam-ro, Jung-gu, Incheon, Republic of Korea
- Contact — notemag002@gmail.com
- Website — https://kbict.co.kr
Write to the address above with any privacy question. We normally reply within seven business days.
2. What we collect
Nothing. Specifically, KoNote does not:
- ask for your name, email address, phone number or date of birth — there is no account and no sign-in;
- send your notebooks, handwriting, photos, recordings or transcripts to us — we do not operate a server;
- read device identifiers, advertising identifiers or your location;
- include any analytics or crash-reporting SDK (no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no third-party crash reporter);
- show ads or embed an ad network;
- track you across other apps or websites. The iPad and Mac app never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission, because there is nothing to ask for.
3. What stays on your device
Everything below lives in the app's private storage. Other apps cannot read it, and the app does not send it anywhere.
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Notebooks — handwriting, text boxes, shapes, photos, PDF backgrounds, timestamps | files/notebooks in app storage on Android; the app's documents folder on iPad and Mac |
| Lecture recordings (m4a) and their transcripts | Inside the notebook file they belong to |
| Notebooks you deleted (the trash keeps them 30 days, then removes them) | A .Trash folder in the same place |
| Pen settings, saved pens, favourite stamps, video-window position, last search site | App settings on the device (SharedPreferences / UserDefaults) |
| Cookies and cache from sites you opened in the web panel | The system web view's own per-app store. The app never reads it, and deleting the app deletes it |
On Android, the notebook folder is excluded from Android's system backup (the device backup that goes to Google Drive). Notebooks do not follow a device transfer or restore. Use the app's own backup file or a .knotez file to move them.
4. Optional iCloud storage on iPad and Mac
The iPad and Mac app can keep notebooks in a KoNote folder in iCloud Drive. This is off until you turn it on.
- When it is on, new notebooks are stored in your own Apple Account's iCloud Drive, and your other devices signed in to the same account can continue in the same notebook.
- Those notebooks are then stored by Apple's iCloud service and Apple's privacy policy applies (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).
- The developer cannot reach that folder. The container lives inside your account and no copy comes to us.
- Turning it off puts new notebooks on the device only. Notebooks already in iCloud stay there — delete them in the Files app if you want them gone.
The Android app has no cloud sync. Notebooks exist in one place, on the device.
5. When the app uses the internet
KoNote goes online for five things and nothing else.
| When | Who is contacted | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| You search or follow a link in the web panel next to your notes | The search site you picked (Naver, Google or Wikipedia) and any site you then open | What any browser sends — the search terms, your IP address, browser information and that site's own cookies. Each site's privacy policy applies |
| You play a video in the YouTube mini player | YouTube (Google) | The video id and playback requests, your IP address and browser information. YouTube's Terms of Service and Google's privacy policy apply (https://policies.google.com/privacy) |
| You import a PDF by typing an address | The server at the address you typed | A request for that address, and your IP address |
| You drag an image in from the web | The server hosting that image | A request for the image, and your IP address |
| (Android) The first time you convert handwriting to text | Google's ML Kit model servers | A request to download the Korean handwriting model. Your handwriting is not sent. The model is downloaded once and recognition then runs on the device |
In addition, on iPad and Mac, if the on-device speech assets for your language are missing, Apple downloads them. The assets come down; no audio goes up.
The app also checks whether the device has a connection, so it can tell you when a web search or a cloud photo failed because you are offline. Nothing is transmitted by that check.
6. Where speech and handwriting recognition run
- iPad and Mac — Lecture transcription uses Apple's on-device Speech framework. Audio does not leave the device. Handwriting-to-text uses Apple's Vision framework, also on device.
- Android — Transcription uses the device's on-device recognizer (
createOnDeviceSpeechRecognizer) first. Audio does not leave the device.- If the device cannot do on-device recognition, the app falls back to the speech recognition service installed on the system, which is usually Google's. In that case audio may be handed to that service for processing. In neither case does the app send audio to the developer. If you do not want audio to leave the device at all, record without using the transcript.
- If neither is available, the app says "this device does not support transcription" and keeps the audio only.
- Handwriting-to-text runs on the device using the downloaded ML Kit model.
7. Permissions
The app asks for each permission at the moment it is needed. Declining leaves the rest of the app working.
| Permission | Why | If you decline |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | Record a lecture into the notebook | Only recording and transcription are unavailable |
| Speech recognition (iPad, Mac) | Turn the recording into text on the device | Recording still works; there is no transcript |
| Camera | Photograph a whiteboard or a handout into a page | You can still insert photos from the photo picker |
| Notifications (Android) | Show the notification that runs while recording — Android requires it for a microphone foreground task | Recording still works, you just do not see the notification |
| Internet and network state | Web panel, YouTube playback, importing a PDF by address, downloading the handwriting model | (Not prompted for) |
The app never asks for photo library access. Both versions use the system photo picker, which hands over only the picture you chose; the app cannot see the rest of your library.
The app does not use broad storage permissions. The Android app declares no MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE or READ_MEDIA_IMAGES. For automatic backups you pick one folder with the system folder picker, and the app writes only there.
8. Children
- KoNote is not designed for or directed at children. It is a study and lecture-note tool for older students and adults.
- The app asks for no age and collects no personal information, so no child's personal information can reach the developer.
- The web panel is not a browser. It has no address bar, and it loads only
google.*(all country domains),naver.comandwikipedia.org, including subdomains such aswww.,m.andsearch.. A link tap, a redirect, a form post or a new-window request that points anywhere else is not loaded: the panel shows a notice naming the site, and you choose whether to open it in your device’s own browser. Because of that the store age ratings are filed as all ages (4+ on the App Store, 전체이용가 / PEGI 3 on Google Play). - The floating YouTube window still plays whatever video you paste in, through YouTube’s official embed player. The developer does not choose or filter those videos (the player also has no address bar and cannot navigate the web). If a younger person uses the app, a parent should supervise it.
- If you believe a child's information ended up in the app, write to the address above. Because the data is only on the device, deleting that notebook is normally the whole remedy.
9. Retention and deletion
We hold no user data, so there is no retention period on our side. Data on your device stays until you remove it.
- Delete one notebook — deleting it in the library moves it to the trash. Emptying the trash, or 30 days passing, removes it for good.
- Delete a recording or transcript — delete that page and both go with it.
- Delete the app — removing the app deletes the notebooks, recordings, settings and web cookies in app storage. This cannot be undone. Export a backup file or
.knotezfile first if you want to keep anything. - Notebooks kept in iCloud — these remain in the KoNote folder in iCloud Drive after you delete the app. Remove that folder in the Files app.
- Backup files, PDFs and
.knotezfiles you saved elsewhere — these stay where you put them (Files, Google Drive, a USB drive). The app never deletes them behind your back.
10. Your rights
Rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability matter when a company holds your data. KoNote neither receives nor stores your personal data, so there is no copy to hand over and no record to erase. The data is on your device, and you can delete or move it yourself.
For questions under the GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA or Korea's Personal Information Protection Act, write to notemag002@gmail.com. We do not sell or share personal information.
11. Security
- Notebooks live in the per-app storage that the operating system isolates from other apps. With a device passcode or biometric lock enabled, the device's own encryption covers them.
- Outbound requests the app makes itself (importing a PDF, downloading the handwriting model) use HTTPS where the server supports it.
- Because the developer runs no server, there is no server breach that could expose your data.
12. Payment
KoNote is a paid app with a one-time price. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription and no advertising. Payment is handled by the App Store and Google Play; the developer never receives your card number or payment details. The stores report unit sales and country totals to the developer, not who bought the app.
13. Changes to this policy
If a future feature adds a new place the app connects to, we will update this document and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes. Write to the address above for a previous version.
