KoNote

A handwriting notebook for tablets

What KoNote does

KoNote is a handwriting notebook app for iPad and Android tablets. Write on paper-sized pages with Apple Pencil or an S Pen, and everything you gather while studying — photos, PDFs, clippings from the web, lecture recordings — goes into the same notebook, on the same page, next to your handwriting. There is no account and no sign-up; notebooks are files on your device.

Key features

  • Handwriting — pen, pencil, highlighter and fountain pen with pressure and tilt from Apple Pencil or an S Pen, plus stroke straightening for clean lines and shapes.
  • Two-page spread — write across a spread like a real notebook, with page navigation and reordering.
  • Lecture recording with transcript — record a lecture while you write, transcribed on the device. Tap any line of the transcript to jump to that moment in the audio.
  • PDF import and export — import a PDF from a file or a URL and write on top of it, or export a whole notebook as a PDF.
  • Web panel — search Naver, Google or Wikipedia next to your notes and paste a clipping straight into the page.
  • YouTube mini player — watch a lecture video while writing, and drop a timestamp into the page.
  • Notebooks exchanged between iPad and Android — the two apps share the same notebook and backup file format, so a notebook started on iPad can be finished with an S Pen on a Galaxy Tab and brought back.

KoNote is a paid app with a one-time price. No in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads.

Frequently asked

Where are my notebooks stored?
As files in the app's private storage on your device. There is no developer server, so notebooks never leave the device on their own. On iPad and Mac you can optionally store them in your own iCloud Drive; the Android app has no cloud sync.
How do I move a notebook between iPad and Android?
Both apps read and write the same notebook and backup file formats. Export a notebook as a .knotez file and send it by AirDrop, the Files app or a messenger to open it on the other device.
How do I back up my notebooks?
Create a backup file from the library screen and restore it later when needed. Deleting the app removes the data on the device, so export a backup or a .knotez file first for anything you want to keep.
There's no account — how do purchases and device changes work?
Payment is handled through your App Store or Google Play account, so you can reinstall on a new device with the same store account. Notebooks themselves are not tied to an account, so moving them to a new device needs iCloud (iPad, Mac) or a backup file.
